Kindy into Autumn

November 3rd, 2011 by secretary

During the month of October, Kindergarten has been looking at changes. Changes in the weather and the colours we see in nature.
We had a beautiful hands on experience and went on a walk to our neighbour’s (Nomadelphia) vegetable patch.
The children picked their own vegetables and the farmer actually gave the children seeds to plant salad.
It was great fun!!!
We also had a fantastic Halloween Party and made black cats and spiders for art.

Grade 5 fights crimes and solves mysteries every day!

October 6th, 2011 by secretary

We’ve put on our Sherlock Holmes hats and coats and picked up a magnifying glass to focus in on how to collect evidence and solve crimes.
Grade 5 has also been working in small groups, each with a different bag of “real” clues to construct a mystery story.
In Math, we’ve discovered the “decimal places”.

Grade 7 News

October 4th, 2011 by secretary

Grade 7 started the new year with bubbling enthusiasm! The students have been familiarizing with the new classroom, surrounded by scientific posters and mathematical inspiration. They have been asked to participate in the weekly sharing of science news articles, and have done so by bringing them to class and reporting the news with excitement, receiveing attentive and curious responses from their classmates. The students are also required to help monitor the classroom activities and environment, and for this purpose monitors have been assigned to different jobs. The monitors will change on a monthly basis, allowing for all students to participate responsibly in the care of their own classroom. This year the whole class is very pleased to welcome three new students: Fariha, André and Vittoria.
Have a great school year!

Check out Grade 8- September News!

October 3rd, 2011 by secretary

Grade 8 is quite happy about starting school and is enormously pleased to welcome the three new students Marjuan, Mubarak, and Calvin. Since the second day of school we’ve been using our two textbooks of grammar and literature, waving good-bye to summer, and starting off the scholastic year with new homework from our teacher Ms. Skea. The first classroom jobs are already divided among the teens who are enthusiastic about being with their friends and buddies. The second week of school has started with the first lessons of the other subjects such as spelling, art, and history. The birthday-kids of both September and October are Sara, Melba, and the Grade 8 news reporter, Bruno. At this moment Grade 8 is very excited about preparing their first assembly, and they’re mentally preparing for the great holiday called Halloween.

Back to School

September 28th, 2011 by secretary

It’s back to school in Kindergarten and we have already learnt many new things.
We have discovered what it is like to live “Under the Sea”…
What animals live there? What grows there? What colours are under the water?
Many children were also interested in learning about frogs. We discovered the life cycle of a frog and looked at the difference between a tadpole and a frog.
During the last two weeks we have definitely improved our fine motor skills. All the children have learnt to hold their pencil correctly and write their name.
