In science we have begun learning about simple machines for our up-coming Science Fair project. We have learnt new adjectives and how to use the comparative and superlative forms and we are now using these in our poetry writing.

We made minature Antartica animals ants of playdough and put them into an ice setting for art work.
We celebrated Valentine’s Day by making heart cookies and caards.
For Carnival we have been busy decorating the classroom and painting handmade masks.

We have been working on subject-verb agreement and verb tenses in grammar.
We learned how to write a friiendly letter and are using compound words, antonyms and synonyms.
In social studies, we have talked about the importance of laws and rules and how we can be better citizens.
Don’t forget to ask for a receipt!

dragons and fans. We did a Lion Dance around the school and sung happy
new year to different classes. We had fun trying to eat our lunch
using chopsticks!

We also read the story of ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ The Gingerbread man
ran away from everyone because they wanted to eat him! He said ‘Run,
run, run, as fast as you can. You can’t catch me I’m the Gingerbread
Man!’ Then we made Gingerbread men and ate them. Yum!

We celebrated St. Valentine’s day by making candle holders and
beautiful cards for our parents. For Carnival we dressed up and had a
party. We had to tell Ms. Ciara all about Carnival because in Ireland
they don’t celebrate it.

We enjoyed playing in the snow but now we want it to go away so we can
come to school every day!

The students competed against each other to enter the Math Competition and four succeeded: Bruno, Sean, Sabina and the Grade 8 news reporter, Chatuni.
They have started to assemble on the science fair projects and will soon be working on their fascinating experiments. They have finished reading the world-famous play “The Diary of Anne Frank” and are looking forward to making a multi-media project dedicated to her life. Grade 8 has enjoyed the snowfall during the first two weeks of February and hope for another sprinkling to come soon!

How do we get to school? work? the park?
Kindergarten created a city out of shapes and the colours black and white.
The children have also started working on their Christmas play and artwork.
The Sala Umberto theatre company came to school…we got to see “Rapunzel”. It was great!
