We would like to thank all of you for your generous contribution during the school bake sale on January 20th. We are extremely grateful to the parents and students of the 7th and 8th grades that contributed so enthusiastically with delicious cakes and cookies. We were also very moved by the outpour of generosity displayed by all of Saint Francis’ families that contributed to the event. We were able to raise more than 800,00 euro! The favorable outcome of our bake sale was possible because the remarkable community of Saint Francis promptly came together in solidarity for the devastated population of Haiti. We thank you again.

We then based our story competition theme on “Homes” and wrote stories about a place we would like to live in.
Third grade have painted winter water colour pictures and decorated the classroom with winter and Christmas decorations.

For our winter topic we studied the calendar and wrote seasonal poems and then built our own calendars ready for 2010. We created snowfall in the classroom by cutting beautiful snowflakes. We also constructed a Christmas tree using cut outs of our hands. We made a snowscene frieze around the classroom by creating a watercolour wash and using sponge painting, then finally adding a splash of glitter! We have also been practising hard for our Rudolph performance.

We tasted many different vegetables and cut them up into many shapes. (concepts in learning-math programme).
Seeing that December is a time for giving and sharing, we have been busy making presents for loved ones, practising poems and carols to share with our family and friends….Happy Holidays to all….

Grade 6 students have been busy increasing their awareness of the world around them.
Projects with a view to the world have been varied, ranging from an exploration of the issue of world hunger, to a penpal initiative, which somewhat turns the clock back…
Mouse pads and e-mails will be put aside as students break out their finest pens, letter paper and envelopes to exchange experiences with a Grade 6 class in Toronto.
Lets hope the postman’s on time!

We divided into groups according to our different cultures and followed a recipe that is typical of our individual countries.
