Math & Science in Middle School….October news

October 23rd, 2009 by secretary

In Grade 6 Math students worked on analyzing and constructing different kinds of graphs. The students ended their chapter with a group project. Each group worked on a different set of data and graphed the data in a circle, bar and line graph. The final results were exceptional!

In Grade 7 Science students worked on analyzing the Earth’s interior. They studied convection in the mantle and directly observed convection in boiling water through the use of food coloring and pumpkin seeds. Their direct observations led to a detailed laboratory report on convection. The Grade 7 students are very curious scientists and good observers!

Grade 8 Science students are being challenged this year with Chemistry. They were each assigned an element to research and advertise. They presented their element to the class orally. This research and presentation allowed the whole class to familiarize with the Periodic Table of the Elements.
Well done to all of you!

Ms. De Paolis
